The painting shows the typical brushwork and the special colored delicacy of a good work of Gagliardini. Laguépie is a picturesque village, which has an island location on the confluence of the Aveyron and Viaur.

The Musée Baron Gérard at Bayeux owns as permanent loan from the Musée d'Orsay in Paris a similar painting. By its description, the present identification of the subject succeeded.

Gagliardini is with his works from 1880 on an impressionist, who has taken a completely separate development compared to the main figures of this period.
In his artistic career, he won very many awards, including the gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900.

Artists dictionaries: Thieme-Becker, Schurr-Cabanne, Bénézit, Saur.

Artworks by Gagliardini are holding by such important public collections such as the Museums of Fine Arts of Amiens, Arras, Bayeux, Cambrai, Marseille, Mulhouse, Reims and Tourcoing (there 2 paintings); Musée Fabre, Montpellier; Musée Malraux, Le Havre; Musée Baron Gérard, Bayeux; Musée du Louvre, Paris.
